wanna change the a/t on 99 gen4 camry le i4 to probably 5s m/t ... comments and ideas ? price ? i heard it's around 1k something in CAD ? if so it's not a bad deal ... (and i have reason tat i canNOT get a new car)
$1000? Are you out of your mind? A transmission swap like that takes certainly more than $3000 man. And that doesn't include installation.
that is not true, you need to refer to Ratko's site as stated below, he did the swap for around 980 canadian, i think that the swap now, with a good upgrade on the flywheel and the clutch, maybe even short shifter kit, could be done for under $1500 US, and that would be cheaper on a 4cy. since ratko did the v6 swap

You can definitely do the swap with quality aftermarket clutch, shortshifter, and flywheel for under 1500. When I did mine, I think I paid about 1000-1200 for parts in US dollars. Even if you include labor you can have it done for about 2k total US Dollars. 3000 is waay to expensive. Gen 4 parts are plentiful and easy to some by in the junkyard. www.car-parts.com is your friend.
Hmmm......maybe....but if I wanted a manual, I would of bought a manual instead. But, I think it's worth the money if your passionate about it. Go for it!
$3000? Your parts list will look the Partridge Family's shopping list.
You going to do it yourself? If you use a shop...maybe $1500 in labor alone.
Maybe $1200 for a rebuilt, how about new flywheel, high performance clutch, etc
Best of luck and weigh the worth, more power to you.
Might as well look in to getting a V6 in there same time.

That depends if a manual was ever available at the time when and where he bought the car. Your car was obviously bought at the dealer, which doesn't apply to everyone.
