Well, I have gotten to the point where I am starting to get annoyed by my bouncy-bouncy ride and wanting to invest in a set of struts to go along w/ my TRD springs. I know everyone praises the TRD(eibach) & Tokico combination. However, when I e-mailed Shox.com for a price list they gave me the following:
Tokico $399.00
KYB's are $319.00
Sachs $239.00

Now I do recall someone saying that the KYBs give you a much closer to OEM ride. I would probably be more prone to comfort over performance since this is a 4 banger. However, does anyone have experience w/ the Sachs? For that price is that just a OEM replacement? From what I know many of the european makes use those...just not sure how they would be w/ the TRDs. Will be adding the TRD rear swaybar as well at the same time.

Anyways, any opinions would be very much appreciated. My car has more bounce to the ounce....and it needs to stop!

-Toby

I've heard the same thing about Sachs as you have. They are commonly used as OEM replacements.

Based on other ppls comments and xperiences, here's a list in sequence;

Firmest ride
-TRD (Bilstein)
-Tokico
-KYB
-Sachs
-OEM
Softest ride

I'm running Tokico and HR. It's tolerable and not harsh at all.

What up Tmanana, great news about your sway bar, I think your reviews are going to make me want to add one to my solara. I have ebiach pro kit, so a 1.6'' drop. I wanted to get Tokico's but because I listen to a crappy import tuner shop here in chicago got the KYB's because the Tokico's were on back order. I have heard from lots of people that the Tokico's and KYB's are very similar, but the tokico's are a bit more firm. I am happy with the KYB's so far have been handling the chicago potholes well plus the weight of passengers and all the stereo equipment in the trunk. All I can say is they are not bouncy at all and noticably firmer then OEM, but not losing too much confort. I'd go with KYB's or Tokico's for sure. Hope that helps.

Hey did you install the sway bar ?? how hard was it to do if you did ?

Hey Todd....thanks for the 411. I'll be honest with you I had one of my friends who works for a tuner shop install the rear sway, just for the fact it would be a task trying to install it w/ my stock jack in my apartment's parking lot. For $50 bucks I was willing to have it done right. Anyways, I have been told it's really a piece of cake geting it done yourself. Basically an hour worth of work....so if you are at all mechanically inclined, I think you should have no problems. With all the money I have saved doing my own audio installs I think its ok dropping a little once in awhile to make sure wheels arn't falling off...lol. But I have been so happy with the performance aspects this addition...actually I am a bit worried since I now think this car is a drift car and love to play with it around corners...lol. Well good luck, and I think I might go with the KYBs. Who knows

I have KYB inserts and H&Rs...the ride is a bit harsher than stock but it's perfect just for normal driving. If I go over a bump then you'll feel it, but the roads aren't too bad in TO.

If you still want to retain the comfort of your car (and save some cash!), I'd go with KYB.
