Does this intake heat shield work?? or waste of $$$

Will this heat shield work on my injen short-ram intake...to help block some of the heat from the engine? or is this totally a waste of money?

^^ oops forgot to include...was gonna get CAI extension from UPFD...but they never shipped it! said they charged me last week monday, and I will get it last week thurs. Well today (Monday) never got the item, so got suspuscious (sp?) and called me credit card company. they said THERE IS NO CHARGE FROM UPFD on my credit card

They never shipped it yet...why would they say they did and even said my credit card was billed? I'm gonna cancel my order. it's not worth getting some extra performance if i have to deal w/ this kind of treatment. I eagerly checked my mailbox everyday getting my hopes up just to be let down.

You could make that (if you wanted) out of heavy flashing, rivets, and a screw type clamp for less than $20. Save ur money...better yet invest your money But then again I am biased.

it likely won't block heat, it'd be much more effective at trapping cool air coming in from the grille.

Hot air will move around heatshield like its not there. Get a CAI fo r real cold air. SAI will always give you hot air. Don't believe me? Get an thermo with external sensor and put it inside the intake.

100% waste of money!! Hot air doesn't care if there is a half-assed piece of metal in the way. AIR GOES AROUND IT! Doesn't work for shit, and I laugh at anyone who gets one. Infact... I'll laugh now

does it even matter when it's summer time if you have a CAI or a Short ram if the hot air is charging up the intake?

Even in the summer, hot air of like 70 degrees is still colder than the air from inside the engine bay. Temps in the engine bay get up above 100 degrees. There have been so many arguments about CAI vs SRI vs stock. Personally I'd say save your money and get or make an extension and make it CAI.

It stands for "Under pressure fabrication distribution." they make custom stuff, and started making intake extensions for short-ram intakes for the camry/solara, so that they'd be true CAI.

very nice people over the phone, but their business practices need some work. i've heard on solaraguy forum that some people had to wait 2+ months for their extension!

i called today and he told me that "something messed up w/ their shipping, and that he will ship it out today.." (yeah right, like i haven't heard of that before. ) I was about to cancel my order, bec i will be gone in 1 week. but he "guaranteed me" that i'll get it before i leave. not holding my breathe.

so just a warning...i'm sure i will EVENTUALLY get my extension...but for others unless you don't mind waiting 1+ month for something they said would "ship out in 2 days" from your order, steer clear of them.

the good thing is that i ordered by credit card, so if anything messes up, i'l get my $$$ back.
