car randomly hesitates or dies. need help

Hey guys,

I am trying to help a friend out. He has 94 camry and the car has issues staying running all the time. From what it sounds like, looks like it always starts up without any problems. Then when he pulls up to a light or stop sign it seems that RPMs drop really low and the engine just dies. In addition to frequenly dying when car is being stopped, he said the other day it started hesitating while cruising on the highway but then it just went back to normal by itself.

He has been dealing with this problem for about half a year now. His mechanic doesn't know what it can be. First thing they did was a complete tune-up and the car idles fine. I also asked if tank was low (you never know) when this happened, but he said tank was 3/4 full the last time. Computer has no codes.

I am curious if anyone here seen a similar problem or has a guess as to what maybe causing it. Bad sensor somewhere?

well, mechanic did replace spark plugs and wires when did the tune-up and they did extra work with ignition just recently (I am not sure what was changed there, but he told me something about seeing a spark going to the engine block).

Weird thing is that car will work fine and has power most of the time. It's just those 1 or 2 times a day when it decides to die.
