2nd gener question for camry techs.

I've got a problem with my camry wagon. Its a V6 equiped with the 2vzfe driven on an automatic transmission. Year of the car is '91.
My problem: It drives fine when engine is still cool. In drive at least. Reverse requires heavy revs. After the car warms up the car begins to heavily smoke. I'm assuming it has something to do with the transmission. The temp shows that the engine is in normal temp.
So what do you people think? All input is appreciated. Thanks for you time.

It probably is the tranny, but then again, i'm a complete n00b at fixing cars. My dad's old tercel did something similar, it would smoke a lot, the temp appeared normal, and it would drink oil like crazy, but we have since sold it off to my uncle, who is an expert with cars.

Have you checked your tran fluid level and condition?
You should.
Post more detail about your troubleshoot or you will get few replies.
Orrrrr you can lie and say you are a single, 21 year old nympho cheerleader for more attention.

Well, the symptoms are as I said. I haven't noticed anything else. I haven't checked anything cause I have no place to check it at. Especially with the weather getting colder and colder here in Minnesota.

The car seems to drive fine in drive. Reverse requires heavy revs to get moving. Once the engine reaches or nears normal temperature. Smoke starts rising up from the engine. Theres not really much else I can say. Theres no odd noises. No stutters or anything like that. The biggest things are having to step on the gas pedal more to reverse and the smoking. When the car starts smoking I just shut it off.

Some of my questions would be: Is it bad enough that I'd have to replace the transmission? Or, is there a transmission fluid cooler thats not doing its job?
