Angry Steering Noise

I am getting noise when I turn the steering wheel. The noise is kind of rubbing or whining or goaring whatever you wanna say it

I checked the power steering fluid level and its between max and min when the engine is hot.

I fing my steering pretty stiff to turn as well. I have 17 inch rim with 215/50 tire.

Do you think the rim and the tires are causing the steering wheel stiff to turn.

Any comments or ideas about the noise????????

Must be your servo pump, don't know if it's fixable though
i especially get a loud noise when completely turning the steering wheel to a side; i hear some noise when just cornering.

i never tought much of it ...

There's a TSB ST002-03 dated june 13 2003 for 4 and 6 cylinder Camries describing a low frequency noise when the steering wheel is turned at low speeds due to friction between the intermediate shaft and grommet.

The fix is to lube between the shaft and the grommet. The recommended grease is Seal-Tite Dielectric grease or equivalent

I had the same thing with my 4 cyl. It was the power steering belt. The sound sounded like a loud squeeking noise. Hope thats what it was, simple to fix

yeah, i'm bound to change my acc. belts some time soon, maybe it'll fix it
if not i might try to lube it; but it just isn't a priority in my book...

should it be? does the noise indicate wear ?

Was it the power steering belt? Was it fixed by replacing the belt?
