Putting the final touches on my exhaust system. A few Qs

I am planning on heatwrapping the entire exhaust system: the Pacesetter(Ceramic Coated)Header, Cat, Resonator, and all the piping.

My question is this: will the heat wrap cause the ceramic coating on the header to flake off? I have searched but have not found a definitive answer.

I have read a post that said that the ceramic coating+heat wrap will make the coating prone to flaking off and the header more prone to cracking since there would me more thermal expansion.

well, i heard that heat wrapping an NA header, the header is more prone for flaking off and eventually cracking. So, you might wanna think this through, about heat wrapping it. Im pretty sure it's the same for the exhaust system.

No don't heat wrap. Its good for race cars cause they replace the wrap often. I've heard of the wrap obsorbing moisture and then it just aides in corrison of ur header.

But the heatwraps prevent dirt and salts from getting to the header, which is needed for rust.

Ceramic coating isn't as effective as heat wrapping, as proved by the following document: http://www.zzperformance.com/downloa...omparison1.pdf

Actually heat wrap keeps acids and salts on your metals. Also soaks in liquids, etc. Corrosion on the outside of the pipe and near melt down elsewhere in the pipe.
The main problem is the high heat breaks down the pipes that are wrapped.
Not good thing to do anymore. Ceramics is the way now.

Also on a ceramic site, I read the super high heat will cause ceramic to fail voiding warranty.

Just say No to Heatwrap. Double weld larger diameter pipe on to existing you need some heat protection from.
