Sometimes...my O/D indicator light on the dashboard flashes (about 1 per 1.5 to 2 seconds) when i'm in Overdrive. When overdrive is off, it's stays on as normal..
What does this flashing mean?

The O/D light flashes to inform you that the ECU has stored one, or multiple trouble codes.
Might wanna check that out...

n/p, if it's like 3vz-fe (should be) just bridgeTE1 and E1 in the diagnostic port in the bay.
Turn the key to ON and it'll spit out the codes with the O/D light.
All stuff you know by now

You mean spit out the codes via the CEL light...?

Yep, it'll flash the codes at you when the ECU is in diagnostic mode (terminals shorted) and the ignition is turned to ON. (wether or not the car is running)

Toysrme i did BRIDGE TE1 & E1 the "engine light" keep flashing...i was told this work normal and if i press the O/D button the "O/D light" start to flash as well.So just wonderting is that normal???
BTW i am thing of changing my lower radiator hose...and just wondering can i take it off from the top?? it look pretty tight to work on..let me know ASAP ok, thinking of doing it tomorrow!
Something is wrong with the tranny. Lose wire, stuck valve. First check for oil leak around the tranny. Engine oil leaking onto tranny is not good. I had a leak from disy and its pouring oil on the speed sensor and govenor. Mine won't shift down sometime It works fine after I clean the oil off. I might need to change the seal on speed sensor and governor too.
my light did some wierd shit about a year ago, it turned out to be a faulty electric solenoid on my tranny(automatic), messed up my shifting and stuff, the cam felt slow. dont know if this could be the problem, hope it helps.
Well from the external view i can see my car is leaking A/T fluid under the A/T. It's only a bit a fluid and its not all the time, is there a guide on how to test if the electrical is working ok??? i got a 3VZ-FE engine GEN3
The O/D Light is now blinking AGAIN. I checked the CEL by shorting TE1 and E1 of the DIAG connector and there is NO error codes present in the computer.
Judging by the flashes of the O/D light, it reads either 16 or 61. Six flashes followed by a pause then a single flash followed by another pause, or vise verca.
Does anyone know what this means?
(So much for the error code has been stored idea!!)
Thanks.

6 flashes, then pause, then 1 flash isnt a code in my book, but the book says its for the CEL, maybe since its the O/D light flashing, its a trouble code for the transmission, the tranny has a seperate computer.
i dont know where you can get the code info for the tranny

well i had some problem with that in my 92 camry 4 cyl. it happened after i changed the tranny fluid and filter and it started blinkin when i hit overdrive on the highway. series of blinks so i called my mechanic and he said that there could be something wrong with my tranny.. thought it was doomed so i got crazy one day and this is waht i did
unplug the ecu fuse under the coin holder by the left of the steering wheel and crank the car couple of times and then put back the ecu fuse and now it runs fine no blinks i told my mechanic what i did and he said that sometimes is the ecu thats messed up so you could give it a try but be careful .. i did it b/c i hated the dam thing always flashing

Actually, you have to read the flashes on the O/D light, not the CEL. The transmission has its own diagnostic system and is not connected to the CEL. Anyone here have a Haynes manual handy for the trouble codes?
