As many of you know, Richard from Brullen Exhaust did my cat-back system. I took it in to dyno today. The results were quiet positive. The new graphs were above at ALL RPMs. Also, the curves were a lot smoother. So the car liked the exhaust.

The summary of results are: +4.5HP @ 4800RPM and +5.7lb.ft @ 4200RPM. One odd thing was that the more runs we did, the more the HP and torque numbers climbed (we did 5 runs in total). Another odd thing is that we took the air filter out and did a run and of course the numbers were higher than what we had. Then we put it back in and did a run and the new numbers were higher than the numbers we got without a filter!

This told us that the computer is still learning and trying to adjust to the new cat-back... but the progression is in the upward direction only. I am quite pleased because the exhaust is also relatively quiet... its not that much louder than stock which is the way I like it, because I don't like sound.

Very positive overall. I can't wait to do cat, downpipe and intake... all-together, if done properly will be very good. I will post more results as I get more.

If anyone wants more details about the dyno that I did (since there were a few small, lengthy details that I skipped in this post) feel free to e-mail or call me. I know you were curious, Henry.

Henry: --impulse buy signal detected--

Anish: Damn you got more torque increase than HP! Now I want to get a cat-back also. How much did you pay to get yours done by Richard?

Anybody wants to go exhaust shopping with mei?

All you need now are some good headers for a even bigger boost.Im very impressed with that power gain it shows that even a I4 has some exhaust line loss.

The CF (correction factor) was within the allowable difference. 0.99 on baseline day and 1.01 on cat-back day. It was a little cooler on cat-back day but not to the point where it would affect the results (0.2 HP kinda' difference since its indoors).

Seems like the engine is still learning and adjusting... as I said, each additional dyno was giving higher and higher numbers.

At first it seemed like I only gained 3 HP and 1 lb.ft of torque. But that was a little misleading since the dyno takes the highest point, which is sometimes when the engine shifts from 1st to 2nd gear and the torque converter locks up... too bad you can't cut off a portion of the graph.

So we plotted points at the peak to see the exact numbers. I will show you guys the graphs at the next meet. I might even do a dyno after the crank pulley install.

I got a deal since my car was the blueprint and this was the first of its kind. Thank you Dickson and Jeff for the referral to Richard.
