Arrow Is Optima battery really powerful?

It's time for my car to have a new battery. i'm considering Optima. But actually i don't have any crazy audio or video devices on my car but just a cd player. Is Optima really powerful? Cuz i think i might put some more things on my car like speaker and HID.
If i replace Optima, do i need to replace my stock alternator too? It only has 80amp.

If you aren't running a sound system then there is no reason to replace your alternator. And Optima batteries are very nice batteries. Very reliable and very conductive. You will notice a difference with an Optima battery.

Hope I helped

if you can afford it buy it, I have one. I've also had on exide orbital too. Much safer and reliable than conventional batteries. You can even store them upside if you want, try that with a conventional battery and you're in for a crisis.

I still wouldn't recommend tipping the battery on it's side though...

^ Theres nothing wrong with mounting a Optima battery on its side or upside down.

We had one mounted upside down that was powering a display at the shop I worked at.

The Yellow Top can stand many times of total discharge and still alive. Normal battery can take about 5 times before it dies. It hold larger charge so you can listen to your music for a few hours and still able to drive away.

How much do Optima's usually go for? My brother has a Red Top, and I was using it for a little bit while my alternator was messing up, and I liked it...so I'm thinking about getting one for myself also. What's the average price for them?

Optima battery =

i reeeallly like mine, i upgraded my battery wires with 8 and 4 gauge on the "big 3" and then did some engine grounds and stuff, with my optima my voltmeter reads almost 1 volt better and my cap charges much better, i like it a lot and i can run my kicker s12l5 and 14 neons and strobes and not worry about it draing for well over an hour

btw i have a yellow top

And what's the difference between the red top and yellow top, does one just last longer than the other?

Red top is for normal cars. It is a starting battery, not deep cycle. The yellow doesn't have the cranking power of the red, but can run longer. Yellow is normally used in battery banks for SPL vehicles or when a vehicle has batteries in the trunk for stereo, suspension, etc.

Great, thanks! I think I might get a red top after Christmas for myself, as my brother wants his back...and I don't really trust the one I have in there now (It's already died 3 times since I've had it, due to my alternator failing), so I probably should replace it.

Most car don't need the cranking power of the Red. I don't have problem boosting pickup trucks with my Yellow Top.
Yellow - long run time
Red - high CCA
Blue - even long run time, I think.
Check it out on Optima's site.
