ABS light on...

Okay I was driving home and went to climb a steep hill covered in snow. I got halfway up and the car started slipping. i slowly gave it gas until it made it up but my abs light came on and wouldn't go away. I know my pads are fine, my fluids are fine, why is the light on? I did a search and nothing really helps.

Forgot to add, 95 Cam 4cyl.

On my '92 LE I4, mine went on. Turned out 2 of the ABS sensors (mini computers) went dead. Cost $400 or so to fix and then it has worked fin for 3 years now. Sorry to hear the Lau.

I would also say the sensors aren't working. When I did my rear brakes this summer, I ended up breaking a few things and doing a little pounding (because one of the wheels was rusted on). When I put it back together, the ABS light was on. I didn't do anything about it because I figured that it didn't affect the regular braking system. I drove in rain and hit the brakes pretty hard to see if I had ABS, sure didn't.

I just took the dash apart and took the bulb out from behind the ABS letters. With 160,000 on the clock, I wasn't going to spend the hundreds of dollars to fix it.

Ah well I gave it another shot and started up the car. The light went out and it seems to be just fine. I had ABS when the light was lit, which is what confused me the most. Maybe I had a lot of snow/slush stuck in there to piss it off just so the light would come on. Thanks to everyone who IMmed me too!

The ABS light on my '00 Camry 4-cyl Gallery first came on when I drove through some standing water two years ago. The light went off the next time I started the car and only came on when the outside temperature changed quickly (first freeze, first 90-degree day,...). This winter the ABS light is staying on all the time, and I know the ABS doesn't work.

I'm coming up on 75K miles, and I'm debating if I should diagnose and fix the problem or just tear out the ABS light from behind the dash....

Since I bought my Cam the light has been on. At first I thought it was suppose to be on, but later I found out otherwise. Doesn't bother me though, I'm not gonna spend soo much money to fix it.
