I think I'm going to get a cat-back system done at Brullen sometime in the very near future. Richard is going to use my car as the blueprint for the V6 Camry. I heard that he can do dual mufflers, what do you guys think? If I did get dual mufflers, they would be single tips. I'm just wondering if it would look silly on a Camry and if I would lose out on too much back pressure!? I will probably have to cut at my back bumper a bit to make it even....
If I don't go dual mufflers, then obviously I'll get one with dual tips...not sure which style.
Whoa! Dual exhaust!! Go for it!! More and more family sedans have that now. They're on the Accord V6s and Acura TLs. The new Audi A4 has also switched to a dual exhaust setup. As for cutting the bumper, it will be tricky. It's more like a lip, not just a cut-out that you'll have to replicate.
Where is Richard putting the hangers for the other side??

I've heard that it'll be better if you separate the piping right after the cat. Most of the OEM dual mufflers are not like that: there is a straight pipe going after the cat then it separates almost near or between the two mufflers. I just heard the guy talking about it when we went to check out a speed shop with Tim after the Supra meet.
The dual mufflers will not lost back pressure. It splits in the pipe late (near the middle of the trunk). That is what Richard told me.
I would have gotten the dual muffler on mine too, but I would rather have saved the $$$ in the difference. I prefer conservative looks anyway, so I stayed with a single muffler and single tip... but an eliptical tip. I'm not a sound person either, but this one is good and getting better as the days go on and it gets worked in. All bass.
You don't NEED to cut out the little piece under the bumper to get a muffler and tip on the other side, since its a VERY SMALL indentation on the right side, but it might be better to do so, if you want the job done right. It will be a bit of work obviously.

Anyone else interested in getting a cat-back??

Splitting right after the cat will lose backpressure... however it might not be the case for a V6. That is something that you definetly should do a test on. Henry, you should do a baseline dyno. DPE is very good. After doing my second day dyno there, I hung out in their garage on the pad and we blasted KJeremy's music on my system (I was the last customer of the day). They even went 20 min after closing time to dyno my car.
Remember the guy with the black GS400 at Toyota Showoff? He was there too. I got to chat with him too. Jeremy is going away to England for 2 weeks, so he will be doing my next dyno I suppose.

I dont think dual muflers will do anything other then add weight and 1hp at most unless you remouve your cat.But they would look dam sweet so how gives a crap about performance go for looks.
Hmmmm...if the price is right, I will do the dual exhausts. As long as I don't lose hp, I'm okay with that...it would be nice to gain at least a couple of hp or so! My car is fast enough for my purposes...now I just need it to look, sound and handle better, the exhaust will help two of those needs. Not sure what to do about the bottom lip, maybe I'll FILL up the hole instead! :0
As for added weight, I have so much crap in my trunk, I'm not going to care about the weight of another muffler. I can remove my toolbox to compensate for that!
I should do a before and after dyno but I'll probably get too lazy and cheap...as long as my car doesn't get slower, I'll be happy.
Let's hope I get a good price for a dual exhaust setup. He's not open on Saturdays so I'm going to have to take a day off work!!!
#1 You will NOT gain any HP (not even 0.000001 HP) by going dual over single. The ONLY advnatage is looks.
#2 Do a dyno... trust me its worth it. That way you know if you got your money's worth. Also, if you do a before and after dyno and for example if you don't show any gains, you can take it back to Richard and he WILL work on it for you (lifetime warranty).
#3 Doing a dyno is good because you also get to see how healthy your base is (which in your case is just with intake, and will also give you an idea of whether the HP gains are coming from intake, cat-back, or both). You can use my figure of about 26% driveline loss for HP and 19% for torque in stock form + a bit from intake, then see how much cat-back gives.
You can go in with me on like Tuesday evening to dyno. We can talk. Call me at (416) 892-5825 if you wanna set something up, or talk.

Yeah, I was just talking with my bro over dinner and he said don't do the duals...because it will look ghetto...like those guys with the Neons. I'm still not sure which way I'm going to go, but since he's family, his opinion means a lot. Gotta think about it and do some Photoshopping when I have some more time. Adding a dual exhaust would be totally for looks...as long as it doesn't rob me too much of lower end power, I'll be happy.
I'll think about the dyno Anish, I'll call you at work one day. It just kinda sucks that I would have to pay before and after dyno runs...that about $130. That can buy me one Tokico strut insert!

I dunno... I sorta' like the dual muffler look. However they should be farther to the outside. They are too far in towards the middle. I guess you can't do much about that unless you do a lot more bumper work.

Yeah, I guess it can be seen as ghetto. Screw it, I'll just go with a single exhaust with dual tips...that way I don't have to screw around with the bumper and I can also save some moolah...plus I don't think Brullen carries oval tips?!?
Thanks for the opinions. And oh, thanks Jeff for lending me your oval tip...I did some major photoshopping on it!
