Unhappy Freezing door locks

How many gen2 owners have a problem with their drivers side lock freezing up? I have to go aroud to the passenger side and unlock it there.

Oh and this morning I had to pry my door open with a screw driver.

Stupid winter

Lock deicer warning/unlock problems

If you are using the type that is pressurized with a small tube discharge be careful! Wife broke the tip off in the lock Lucky I could grab it with needlenose!
my 97 has had problems for years with "double turn" unlock. seems like solenoid does not get enough voltage. generally works well if engine /alternator running Any fixesout there?

Holy Jose,
Haven't you guys heard of warming your key up with a lighter? Insert into lock for a minute and voila.
Also go to your fav hardwarestore and buy a bottle of liquid graphite. Best advice for locks. I use WD40 in emergency but its not recommended.
For broken locks...just go to a locksmith, cheaper then dealer. They can rebuild usually.

Yeah my gen 3 likes to ice on me too. Toyotas are known for that. (Well it's better than tranny probs I guess)

I find that a little squirt of WD-40 before snowstorms, or freezing rain helps the ice from forming.

maybe so, but wd-40 is not a lubricant. infact, it's a cleaner.

No I totally understand ya...WD-40 is a cleaner, not a lube. Makes more sense to use a lube. I just stuck with WD-40 'cause it hasn't failed me yet. I was agreeing with ya...makes more sense. Thanks.

wd-40 is a very light oil to be used for water displacement. It's so light its really only good for squeaks. wd40 has more penetrating than lubricating. Longer term, I really recommend liquid graphite. I love that stuff for locks. It even looks ugly.
