I'm new to Toyota products and usually replace all my water hoses about every 4 years on my other cars. How long do these original Toyota hoses last on average? I was going to replace my sons 1999 Camry hoses (which are original) and the parts guy says they hardly ever replace them. Any real world info from you guys?

I would imagine it would depend on the conditions the car is operating in. I have a 2000 LE and whenever I clean my engine I put a little protectant on them to help them maintain their condition. Mine is garaged...so that helps. Your biggest enemy is temperature fluctuation, extreme heat/cold, and *dry rot*. All of my hoses are in excellent condition with 85k on it. If they start to turn birttle or show cracks I would go ahead and replace them...if not, you are probabaly ok leaving them be.
The quality is so good now that I would not worry about replacing them on a regular schedule, even on a very long interval. I'd just wait until one of them showed signs of impending failure and then do it.
10 years and my hoses are still nice and squishy, but firm :P no idea about the lower hoses though

On my 97 camry, i replaced my houses at 70K miles. I do a lot of preventive maint. At the max, i'd streatch it out till 100K. Whenever i do my timing belt, i get it done. Its costs a little more..but i've yet to have a car die on me for lack on repair work!
Been gone awhile but thanks for the responses. I took off a heater hose and one off the thermostat and they looked good inside and out so I'll let them go a little longer. I guess the hose materials have improved quite a bit.
