Unhappy 1 Wheel Drive Camry?!!!!

....Ok I was just curious to see if my car was able to come out of my garage. Outside is about a foot of snow, unplowed. So I drove out...and like i've thought, the car gets no where. So I added some more gas, then I looked out the window and saw that the driver side wheel DOESNT move!!!! but from the splashes on the car in the passenger side I'm sure that that side wheel moved.... So what's wrong with my car?!!

Positraction or locking differential

If you jacked your car up and spun the wheel the opposite wheel would turn the other way with an open diff., with a posi or locking diff. they both spin the same way.

The differential allows your wheels to turn at different speeds when cornering.

in our camrys(any generation) we have an open differential. the car will send power to the wheel with least risistance. that is why on cornering it is very easy to spin the inside front tire. the girlfriend(marisa tomei) in "My Cousin Vinny" does a great job of explaining this.

you SURE about that? woudlnt that be a type of 1 way lsd (mechanical/viscous that is..not those new fuzzy wuzzy clutch/electronic thingies)

i ALWAYS spin my right wheel...always...makes left corners a breeze, but right ones suck

He's right, a lot of people with 240s run welded diffs and those cause your inside tire to squeal every time you turn a corner, an open diff WILL NOT squeal when cornering. If you have a Camry, you have open diff, for a car that also came in VLSD, turn your wheel full turn in one direction, and do a burnout. Then go outside and count how many tracks (1 or 2) your car made. Open diff will be one, VLSD will be two.
