rear defogger fuse location

Have a rear window defogger issue on my 94 Camry. The light on the switch comes on when I press on it but the window remains fogged up. I assume the relay is working and just a blown fuse. Per the owner's manual, it should be the 40 Amp fuse #35 in the main block behind the coin holder right side of the driver's dash. I open this cover and no fuse #35. Any comments on where this guy is hidden is much appreciated, esp winter in Chicago makes it hard to back up with a fogged up window.

The location of the fuse is marked on the back of the coinbox.

I thought the rear window had two seperate defroster circuits. An upper and lower?

Sound about right? Anyone?

Nope just 1 circuit for the rear defroster. Tony, you'll probably have to remove that lower panel to access it.

Can you here a click when engaged ??

It is possible that there is a poor connection on the grid voltage input or ground clips (may just need cleaned & tightened JUST BE CAREFUL WITH CONNECTORS)

Get one of the 12 volt test lamps from the auto parts store (clear handle with bulb inside and sharp metal tip) Then you can check the fuse(s) and see if the voltage is getting to the grid.

You were right Shawn, there are more fuses underneath the lower dash panel when I removed it. I now see a dip in the tach rpm when I push the switch, seems like the engine is being loaded down. Appreciate the assist!

The rear defogger fuse is the is marked "tail lights" and it is behind the coin box. That fuse is for like 10 different things (including the corner lamps)

It show the fuse as one of the 40 amp larger type.

USA rear defogger

I have the same problem in my 95 camry. There are 4 things that can be checked before breaking out the voltmeter. 10a fuse, 40a fuse, relay switch, and dash switch/w timer.

If dash switch light is on, you can assume it is working. The 10a fuse is behind the driver side coin box and easily accessible. The 40a fuse is located further to the right and requires the removal of the wheel well trim (no big deal). However, the heating duct is directly in the way.

Anybody know how to remove it without breaking it?

The relay switch is located on the backside of the junction box behind the diagnostic port. You really have to wedge yourself back there to see it but is it easy to get you hands on.
