Unhappy Maybe I aint' made for a Camry.

Well I know you guys haven't seen me in a while. I've been super busy. Well here's my problem.
I decided to get my muffler put on. 20 minutes later my car started acting CRAZY!!!! I'm pissed. I noticed that when sitting still at a light or just idling, my car will kick like it's going to cut off. Every few secs or minutes. The car is also hard to start and most times does not start on the first try. My remote start is more successful than turning the key. Also when i rev the car or take off too fast the tach will bouce around like it's going to cut off. (it also does this while in all other gears). If my RPMs go to high it will start kicking also. I'm not sure if a tune-up will help or does it sound more serious? The muffler was installed on Wednesday. Now the problem has gotten worse. It kicks more often when idling. However, it doesn't do it all the time. Certain times when i stop it will start kicking but the tachometer doesn't move. The engine idles smoothly but kicks without the tach moving. This is a wierd problem. I have no clue. All my fluids are fine but i have not had a tune-up.
What I did do was pump gas right after I got the muffler put on. I thought it may have been the gas but I guess not. I filled it up with what i believe to be good gas and put fuel injector cleaner and and I don't see much of a difference. Someone please help. Thanks in advance. Does it sound like foul plugs?

Seems like foul plugs, just get a tune up and change all that shit out. Wires, plugs, Oil change whatever. I'm sure its nothing serious, I had a similar problem, and it kept getting worse turned out to be the third spark plug was messed up along with the wire that was shot.

Good Luck,
Calvin

That's what i was thinking but the muffler shop told me that I couldn't be at their fault because there are not sensors back there. There welded it back from the existing resonator.
Thanks for the replies guys.

^ I agree.

It sounds like its mis-firing.

Check the ignition system (plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and coil).

If you can get your hands on a timing light, check each wire with the car running.

Ultimately do the tune-up, but it's just a suggestion.

You'll never know unless you try... go do the tune-up, if that doesn't fix it then move on to the next idea.

Ooohh Kaaayy. The problem just pretty much stopped. I am still gonna get a tune-up but it's not doin it anymore. It kicks maybe once or twice a day but the problem just worked itself out. The engine light is still on though. I'm going to reset it and see what happens. Still seems as though I have an ignition problem though. Thanks for the replies guys. i wanted to get autozone to run a check on it but they said my car had to be at least a '96.

Jumper TE1 and E1 on the diagnostic port in the engine bay. Its a little black box that says "diagnostic" on it near the drivers side strut tower.
