Unhappy Alignment problem - Please help!

My 98 Camry (V4) is having alignment problems. Had the front struts and mounts replaced with new alignment. The rattle noise has gone but there is thumping noise from the front right still whenever I go over uneven surface at low speed.

The bigger problem is that car still pulls to the right and does so more when I am pressing the gas. Starting at a light when I press the gas the wheel turns to the right. Even at high speed I can feel the pull to the right.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

The pulling feeling is torque steer.

Are your CV joints in good condition (not torn ) and I mean all of them, 2 at the transaxle, and one for each front wheel.

The thump may be from a worn engine or transaxle mount.
There is a drive axle support bearing, which may need some attention as well.

Cool

It's not torque steer if it happens at high speed. I doubt his car has the power to cause that.

Go have it aligned again.

The pull to the right happens at all speeds. But when if the gas is not pressed, it usually goes straight.

I use to get the rattle noise with the car pulling to the right. I thought that it would be the struts and the mounts so has them changed but the problem is still there. Got this does at Sears, may be that is the problem.

98-Camry,

Switch the 2 front tires with each other as a test. If the car now pulls to the left, you have what is known as a radial pull in the tire that is now on the left. If so, that tire needs to be replaced. It is best to replace both tires at the same time on the same axle (both fronts or both rears) so that the car will track correctly. The tire with the radial pull may still have some kind of manufacturer's wauranty on it.

Good luck.

Mike
