FINALLY got my CAI extension and installed! (pics, 56K ok)

some of you may have read my previous thread, but I ordered a CAI extension from UPFD, and it took 1month! but it finally came yesterday. Got it installed today, and am very pleased w/ the results

however, the CAI extension was made for the V6 camry/solara so some parts were needed (which was not included.)
2.50" Turbo Silicone 45 degree
2 - 3" Hose Clamps

I had to go to a performance shop for the turbo silicone, so decided to get it installed there too (too busy/lazy to do it )

The install looks good. My silicone 45* is yellow. The extension goes into the front driver wheel fender well.

Initial driving impressions (haven't taken it on the freeway yet):
1. Immediately noticed better throttle response, and car seems more responsive or "peppy"
2. RPMS do NOT drop down as fast when letting go of the gas pedal.
3. do notice nice acceleration/torque gains from a stop, even if minimal.
4. better to hear that rippmods header sound

overall i am enjoying it alot. it was worth the 1month wait/b*tching about it. the weather in TX right now is about 50-60's so i'll have to wait till it's warmer to really see the effect (the car is really sluggish earlier in 100+ temps w/ the short-ram intake.)

^^Good pic showing my Rippmods Header, Strut Tower Brace, and new CAI extension, with the yellow turbo silicone

^^ Overall pic of the outside of my camry. You can see the TRD body Kit, euro halo headlights (for 2000-2001 Gen 4.5 camrys only ),

^^ closer look at the CAI extension going into the front right wheel well.

Sorry for the dirtiness of my car. haven't gotten a carwash in a while. too excited w/ the CAI that I wanted to take pics and post them

I don't know what you're saying. That "yellow" thing is the turbo silicone 45 degree thing that YOU NEED if you bought the UPFD extension like I did, and have a 5sfe camry. without it, the extension would not bend correctly into the driver wheel well, and there would not be any space for the air filter. It just connects the extension to the short ram intake. It's rubber so it's flexable. Doesn't "distract" the air at all

after driving it around, I opened the hood, touched it, and it was still cool to the touch. just the way I like it

and the sound? well, the sound is more improved than before, but still sounds like the SRI except more noticable (the "sucking sound" of intakes). Plus since it's outside the engine bay i can hear the rippmods header better. but because i have a greddy evo exhaust (louder than stock), i probably can't hear the CAI as well as someone w/ a stock exhaust.

its just a...coupler to let you join 2 pipes together, you can stop calling it a "thing" now. rubber or silicone it is?

^^ umm...i know it's a coupler. I was just using the word "thing" bec the previous poster used taht word. And I meant it's rubber-like...to say that it's flexable.
shees...some people act like smart a**es all the time
