I want to go shopping for a manual trans for my car,
Just so the seller or wreckers don't give me the wrong one..how can I check the type of box?
I'm after a E153 trans..probly from a Celica St162. Will "E153" be printed on the box?

And also a second followup question..does the Celica come with an E153 box? And if so..which model...
Any other cars that came with the E153? Except the MR2.

Yes there is a plate on the transmission, it is also market on the same generic toyota chassie plate that you have in your sig.

MRII turbo's & M/T camry/sol/ES came with the E153's. Nothing else did AFAIK.

The shift linkage on the MR II's E153 is on the wrong side for a Camry anyways. Gotta find one from a camry/sol/es.

I found an E153!! from a 3VZ!. Its in great condition. Ill post up some pics and some question later on.
Where was the ID plate for the tranny?

your tranny code is on that plate, under the color where it says Trans/Axle -- A540E

No No...where on the transmission is the code for what it is...i've got a new gearbox and want to know where it ID's itself as being an E153.
I know i have an A540E..hence why it's getting the ripout treatment!
