Some people brake constantly and some people brake late. IMO if you brake late your will prob kill them faster. I have ceramic and they tend to last a bit longer than conventional brake pads and they give off less dust.
on my ES, the original front ones lasted till 77K miles. When i changed the rotors, i changed pads, believe it or not, there was some pad left still. I think i replaced the rear ones at 100K or so..it all depends on how you drive. On my solara (currently at 60K miles), the pads show HARDLY any wear...
front pads are like everyone said dependant on driver. My g/f's lancer where she brakes very late and at some times hard she needed new pads like at 12,000 miles i think. not sure she has 17,000 now and might be in need of new pads
On my dad's 94 cam. he still running on stock pads at 112k, very easy and slow going driver,
Me on the other hand. I've gone so far with 10k miles w/o any sign of wear and tear on my pads really.
It matters a lot if you drag your brakes, how much highway city driving you do. my dad always lets his car cruise before hitting the light or stop signs.
I've blown through EBC and Autozone performance brake pads in 2000-4000 miles. INCLUDING rear pads.
OEM Toyota pads/ActBONE ProACT pads normally last 30,000-60,000 miles.
I'm getting great service out of my Hawk HPS pads.
It's 80% driving style and 20% pad construction. Unless it's an EBC pad, which just suck.

That reminds me, I did change the rotors a couple years ago. They were only $23 from Murrays. I was getting some vibration when I used the brake so I changed them out within minutes.
Isn't it recommended that you change pads when you change rotors and you change rotors when you change pads?
