Mine does and i cant figure out what is causing it. It leaks on the drivers side. I thought it was the vent that sits towards the back but i replaced it and it still leaks.
Anyone else have this problem and figure out a solution? If not i might have to sit in the trunk with a flashlight while a friend hoses down the car in different areas.
The exact same thing is happening to my '95, just a very small amount in the drivers' quarter that I clean out to prevent rust. I thought it was the vent too, but I think it's coming from around the taillight. Since the carpet doesnt get wet, I can only assume it's coming in between the quarter and the carpeted trim back there, making it like 10x harder to diagnose the problem...

do you have dynamat on the sides of your trunk lid i have on mines and water got into it i just ran some insolation tape around the trunk lid to seal it good
Naw, no dynamat here. My trunk is gutted because the carpet and liners got moldy. This has been happening for a while but i hardly ever open my trunk so i dont think about it, im doing a full freshening up of the car and id like to take care of this before i get new carpet and liners in there.
if anyone finds the trunk leak, let me know, all my toyotas leak, my friends toyotas leak, when i worked at toyota in the late 80s, they all leaked too
Mine used to leak. I changed the weather strip for the trunk, and took out all the tail lights and resealed them with silicon. I also took out the middle piece and put weather strip insulation around the parts that were open. Also heck where the badges are. There is a place for a leak there. I sealed all of those up, and I don't have any leak any more.
At least that was on my gen 3. The gen 4 might be different.
Checking for taillight leakage is simple enough, do what I'm going to do and get a hose (if its frozen like mine, a pitcher of water) and pour it down over the taillight- if water get in BAM there's your problem
That's how I discovered it in my gen2, but I didn't seal up the right part of the light and the sonsabitches still leaked
Now I know better... as far as I know it HAS to be the taillight- no other way for water to get in where it is, without it leaking onto the carpet or into the spare tire well

all i did was drill a hole and remove the plug in the side compartment, and the water just drains out i dont no if it still does it but that did the trick
Holy sh*t. so many people with leaks. I had the same problem, BUT i fixed it
No more leaks for me. I was going crazy trying to figure it out so i put liquid nails around the vent thing to seal it and it still leaked. So on a nice day, i took the entire rear bumper off and got some window sealant and put it all the way around the outer portion of the vent that is inside the bumper (which is why i took the bumper off). Ever since then, no more leaks.
Hope this helps

mine leaked till I put silicone on the lights. Be sure to check them as they can suck the water right in. If in doubt silicone them up, it's cheap and can be removed if ever needed.
i have some accumulated water in the spare tire well...but the carpet never feels wet. i do have a small opening around my taillight from when i got in the wreck...im thinking of dynamat-ing the trunk around the taillight there
My trunk leaks behind the long red Camry centerpiece for some reason ?? When I open the trunk and look up, I can see the water dripping from behind the cardboard grey mesh which is located inside the trunk directly behind the Camry centerpiece..
I also find puddle's of water in the plastic tray on the left side of the trunk when it rains...
