Smelling gas, help plz

Hi every1,

So heres my problem. Everyone has been complaining that the interior of my car smells like gas. I haven't spilled any. And I think its just recently. Could it be somehow from my PCV valve, since I just changed it about 3 weeks ago? Or could there be another source of problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Nope. For example yesterday, I just started the car in the parking lot then drove it down to the front, no more than 10 secs of driving at regular speed (10-15mph), then my passenger said she smelled gas. I checked for any leaks from the PCV valve but nothing I could see or feel for.

your gas mileage ok?
do you experience hard start?
If so, the fuel/air ratio is too high.....then it smells like that?

Well its cold here in new england and I guess during some days, the start of the car can take a little bit, not alot to really notice, longer. So normal start I guess.

Agent Sharp - the smell is coming through the air vents only when the vents are turned on. I smell is not alot, meaning when you sit in the car or the moment the vents are turned on, your gasping for air, but small suttel hints. I'm going to have my friend take a look at it today and see whats up.

If the smell is coming from the engine or around it, try cleaning your engine bay and it will make any leak easier to spot; watch for signs of wetness/leaks, or build up of dirt.

Good Luck

This probably isnt it, but if you over fill your gas tank, it can smell like gas too apparently.

Happend to me last week, my garage reeked of gas, and my tank was just over filled. once i drove for aobut 30Km's, i parked in the garage and didnt smell anything.

only you can make thoes foolish mistakes .. and if it was, you probably cant smell the gas in the car..and the 'passenger' would have smelt the gas before she got into the car
