ok guys, this is prolly gonna come across as a stupid question but every time it is wet out and my engine is cold i experience a sudden loss in power around the 2.3 to 3,000 rpm range . as soon as the engine warms up fully it stops doing this, and just now my check engine light came on. my dad thinks it is bad plug wires. what do you guys think? anyone experience this ever? what did it turn out to be? any help would be much appreciated. oh yeah the engine is a 5sfe and it's got about 145,000 miles on it.
cant help ya here but did you even check the plugs/leads? theyre not hard to do if you have a CEL then go to... erm... i dont know where.. every says autozone but i wouldnt have the foggiest if theres one in your area :o

try replacing your distributor nd rotor, mine did the exact same thing until it warmed up, i replaced tham and the old cap and rotor were pretty messed up, it ran like new after i replaced them

somewhat. Mine runs strange if I just jump in and go when it is cold and have the heat on. But once it warms up everything is fine. Plug wire replacement helped greatly though.

i have found autozone pretty good at getting the codes, but as far as them telling you much more than that ya gotta remember they are parts people, nobody at the store has ever been to any kind of driveability school, factory or not
