bent oil dip stick

why would a dip stick need to be bent on the end,about 1 quarter inch or more from the end,when i got this 94 camry 4 cyl. i noticed this and we made it straight,then it would not go down right to check the oil,so we put the bend back in it,it worked ok then,i have never had a car with a bent dip stick--just curious --maybe someone there can explain this,,thanks in advanced.--cutler

My 94 4cyl is the same way. I figured it was meant to be that way.

I think that might be the way it should be. If I recall correctly mine is the same way.

It is supposed to be like that. The way it's bent keeps it from getting stuck when you put it back in.

The small pipe the stick go through is not straight. The bent help guide it through.
