Master Car Key Question

your supposed to be able to open your doors manually with the master car key right? cause i cant....just figured it out recently when i tried it cause i usually just use the keyless remote.

i know i dont have a valet key cause thats what i had at first and couldnt open the glove box with it and went to the dealership and had them make me a master key through my VIN number

im about to go to the dealership and get another made if i have a faulty key because what if my keyless remote stop working? then i wont be able to get into the car...

Drivers door, turn key clockwise direction once, unlocks drivers door only, do it twice it unlocks all doors. Turn it in counter-clockwise direction once, locks all doors. (functions like the remote).

Passenger door, turn key counter-clockwise direction unlocks all doors, clockwise direction locks all doors.

The valet key should open the doors, operate the ignition, but not the trunk or glove box, thought that's how it works.

^ yep sums it up right there. i thought my key didn;t work for the glove box then i played around with it and it works. your not suppose to sitck in all the way in the glove. Best way to test is with your trunk. If it works on your trunk then its a master.

Sounds like your hunch, they gave you the wrong master, is right. It should open the works.

On my 95 I asked for a master key because the one I got with the used car only worked on the ignition and drivers door. Come to find out the drivers door, and ignition has been replaced at one time. The master key opens only the trunk and passengers door only.

just went to the dealership today, told them about my situation and gave them my VIN number again. had about 5 keys made and remade and they still couldnt any of the keys to work on the doors...all they could say was "that's odd" and to "have a locksmith look at it" or "to get new cylinders with new keys made"...doh!
