dumb tail lights

my gen 3.5 has that dash light reguarding the taillight bulbs. Well thats what i assume. Anyways me and a buddie of mines checked to see which one is out. there are non that is blown.

i check the brake lights steping on and off. with the headlights on and off. turn signals. hazard lights. all the lights. front and back. None are blown

So i gave up. I also noticed that the dash light only turned on once i started the car and steped on the brakes and it stays on untill i remove the key.

sounds like almost the same thing that i got (3.5 also), my dash lights went out along with my tail lights that blink when i arm and dis-arm my car, i checked my fueses and my tail fuses is blown! (is this the same problem you are having, or did i read you post wrong?)

then i replaced the fuse and it instantly blew when i turned my car on, so apparently there is a short somewhere (most likely something to do with my stereo and my speakers that i installed).

so here's what i did..since i cant see my gauges when driving at night i went to radio shack and bought one of those cig lighter lamp thingys (looks like a minature snake lamp, except it plugs into your cig lighter) and i put it in my lighter and pointed the snake right at my dash , i like it so i think i might keep it that way for awhile, very unique and original i think .

I had the same problem a couple months ago.

Check your license plate bulbs. The right bulb went out, and the light on my dash went on. I checked the rear of the car, and couldn't figure it out, till I looked at my license plate.

The bulb should be a 921. Your owner's manual should show you how to take the cover off the 3rd (or high mounted) brake light but I found it easier to loosen the tabs that hold the cover on from inside the trunk.

thanks. i didn't look at the manual because i didn't have one. but i got my dad's 94 manual and i see how it goes. so i pull up and towards me. For those who did it, does it require force or just little wiggling to get the clips off.
