Replacing no. 2 shift solonoid

I have a 94 camry le 5s-fe w/auto tranny
ive got to replace the #2 shift solonoid, trouble code 63

symptoms are,, every once in a while when starting out in D, the trans will shutter
pretty bad.....when it does this you can put it in 1 and manually go thru the gears and it will accelerate just fine.

Yeah, i have the same problem and apparently the solenoid is inside the transmission bellhousing, so that is probably a job best left to a tranny shop. The estimates/quotes I've gotten here in So. Cal are around 250-350 for parts & labor.

auto trans are tough to work on unless you know what you are doing. on my last car, a vw passat, they apparently thought the oridinary public wasnt even capable of checking the fluid level. no dipstick on the 97 passat trans. sorry for the needless complaining.

...u should definetly have it checked out
