what are some other simple things can i do to increase hp like change air filter?

you can start by not changing your air filter, or changing it but make a proper cold air intake while you do it. strip out the interior is simple enough

Turbo, S/C, V6 Swap, hell if you have some money torchin your pocket put in a Chevy Small-Block

Seriously though, CAI, Exhaust, head-work, general engine rebuild may help if you have high mileage
