wiper/dash light problem - Help!

I've got a 1990 Camry (4 cyl.) that has been fantastic. It has developed a problem lately though that I can't figure out. Sometimes when I turn on the windshield wipers at night my dash lights go out. This doesn't happen every time and I am stumped. Any ideas anyone?

There's probably a short somewhere. If you are comfortable doing this, try taking the wiper stalk (and the light/turn signal one) out of the steering column and reattaching it. That shouldn't be too hard and might help you find any short.

I'm just guessing here, so be careful with my advice.
