hey everyone, sorry for the noob comment im going to ask...the front speakers on my camry are 3 1/2 mounted in somekinda of box with a 4 inch cap at then end thats pushable that blocks the air flow i guess...i replaced my stock speakers with some 3 1/2 inch audiobahns and is it best to leave that 4 inch cap on or take it off? do my speakers need room to breathe?
Hawkeye's right, I didn't realize we are talking about a gen2 LoL

That "four inch cap" is a passive radiator. Leave it, it helps bass a lot. Its not very different than a ported box. The problem is that they are tuned to the stock speakers, but you will be better off leaving it intact.
Its actually not a terrible design, its limited by a 3.5 inch speaker though. There is some problem with phase too, but nothing anyone notices unless you have a keen ear and are really paying attention.
Toysrme - what are you talking about? Gen 2 speakers are in the bottom of the dash.
since the speakers for the fronts are only 3 1/2...do i still need to amp it up? i jsut got my system installed yesterday and i have a 5 channel 1300 watt amp...200 x 4 adn 500 x 1...what i did was amp the rears with the first two channels and bridged the 3rd and 4th to one sub and use the 5th channel which is 500 watt for my second sub...i left the fronts not amped at all...is it better to amp it up? or leave it alone...thank you
Can someone please tell me how to remove/replace the front speakers? I removed the grill and the single bolt, but I cannot get to the speakers. Thanks!

if you have an aftermarket headunit, most have a built-in amp pushing 25-50W RMS which is enough for the fronts unless they are top top of the line capable of 100W RMS or more (unlikely). also, be careful tuning ur rear speakers that are amped b/c i put a small tear in my rear 6x9s because i put too much power in them for bass.
also, since you have subs, i would turn off the bass to the rears and front b/c the subs will cover the bass just fine and use speakers for only mids & highs.
just my suggestions (that worked in my car)

Drivers side
---------------
1. Bolt behind the speaker grill.
2. Pop off the panels (dimmer & cruise control) next to the steering column. Theres bolts hidden behind these panels.
3. Black plastic panel on the bottom of the dash. 2 screws.
4. 2 screws for the hood release latch.
5. A few more bolts on the bottom corners of the dash.
Passenger side
-------------------
1. Bolt behind the speaker grill.
2. A few screws for the glove box door.
3. Pull out the glove box and pull the plug for the glove box light and switch.
4. Black plastic panel at the bottom of the dash. Its held on with 3 clips, just pull on it and it'll pop off.
5. I think theres a few screws/bolts around the glove box opening.
After reading all around this site and seeing some door installs, I'm really thinking the doors are the better option. What size speaker can I cram in place of the map pocket?

I built a panel that replaces the map pocket. It houses a 5 1/4" mid (Oz Audio).
A 6.5" will fit too, but you have to build the panel out so that you'll have enough room to mount the speaker.
