USA Factory CD Unit Operation

I have a 1998 Camry with a factory Toyota CD/Cassette/AM/FM Sterio Combo unit.
I have noticed that it is kinda picky when it comes to some of my CD,s I play in it.Once in awhile it sounds like it is skipping on a couple of the tracks and then today on a certain track it would not play, and the word "error" showed up on the display. The only CD,s that seem to effect it are the ones that I have been burnt by a friend, and NOT original CD,s.
Are these factory Toyota Cd units rather touchy with some CD,s?
Are there any type of CD Cleaners that can be installed and run thru the system?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...Chuck

sometimes its hard for some cd headunits to play burnt cd's that were burnt at high speed (like 30x and up) it doesnt matter what the cd itself is rated for speed wise, cuz what happens is when the cd player is burning at hight speeds it creates a frequency that gets mix in with the music and some cd players tend to skip when it hits this freqeuncy... sooo a solution would be if u want to play burnt cd on your stock head unit burn them at like 12x hope that helps !

Or you could always buy an aftermarket cd player. I never knew that about burning it at a lower speed would make it easier to read.

Not sure how it goes on car CD players, but on stereos and stuff, you usually just take off the outside case, and look for a potentiometer, it'll be a round thing with a slot for a philips of flathead screwdriver, should be around or behind the laser. Turning this one oway or the other will change the amount of voltage going through it, I think turning it right increases it....turn it right a tiny bit, and see if it helps, and if it doesnt, turn it more.

Doing that will almost certainly void any warranty that could be on the stereo, and it could just mess things up more, if you turn it too much or something...personally, I would just go for an aftermarket stereo,
