Question S2000 Antenna Conversion

Sup guys, I'd just finish hooking up my S2000 antenna and I have a quick question. Along with the antenna, there was two plug, a red power wire (approx 14-16 gauge) and a coaxial-type cable. I know the coaxial cable is the cable the actual cable that the radio signal travels on. I had no trouble plugging that into my system. The question I have is what is the red power wire for? If the S2000 antenna is fix length, why would it need power to it? Can anyone help me and tell me whether or not should I hook the wire up? and to which wire on the stock harness should it be hooked up to? Thanks

Brungold, I believe this is the same antenna you used for your S2000 antenna conversion, it was called the Shark 2 kit. What did you do with the red power wire?

Here's the antenna for those who are curious --> http://www.locustom.com/shark2_kit.htm

From the link, it indicates a built in amplifier, so I guess that you need to power the amplifier eith the red (+) wire. That is, if you want.

Have you done the antenna conversion yet Hajoca? The power harness from the stock antenna has 4 wires into the plug, and I don't know which one is the power...

S2000 antenna is fixed length, so it won't need any power whatsoever.

I have done the S2000 antenna, but I do not have power antenna on my '98CE, it was a fixed whip antenna to begin with.

All I did was unscrew the old antenna that was like 25" long, and trimmed the mount a bit. The Honda part fit right in.

looks like I'll be doing the s2000 conversion soon, my antenna keeps getting stuck when going down. I'm guessing it's the cold, but either way it's annoying.

Well, it isn't the exact geniune Honda product, but it is a really good replica.

If you were to see it in real life, it's pretty much the same thing as if I was to buy the actual antenna and the Celica sub-antenna and go that route, but I would be saving a lot of money.

I guess i'll figure this one out on my own, thanks.

I'll post pics when done.

S2000 Antenna Conversion
- Spectra Blue Cam

THE CELICA/S2000 CONVERSION WAS AN UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS!!

I had toggle switch to get my antenna up and down because unlike the factory decks, aftermarket ones don't care whether you're listening to the radio or not, it goes up all the time. With that switch I can put up the antenna only when necessary. But my recently-added RMM wing hits the antenna when the trunk lid is up. Also, it doesn't go up all the way anymore. So I've been investigating into doing the conversion.

I knew it was a good sign when only one day after I was told the S2000 antenna was backordered for weeks, it arrived.

The whole process took about 45 minutes. 25 of those minutes were spent twisting and bending the antenna bracket to bolt onto the support.

Here's the deal:
1. S2000 antenna - PN 39151-S2H-E01, $34.26
2. Celica sub-antenna (includes bracket) - PN 86309-20300, 35.60
3. Celica antenna nut - PN 86396-20030, $15

The prices are from Sisley Hondau (Yonge and Steeles) and DVNLT. Prices are in CDN, before taxes.

It's basically a bolt-on exercise. The only modification required was to trim a bit off the bottom part of the "antenna ornament" (official parts dept. name for the rubber boot on the rear quarter panel around the antenna). As mentioned, the most challenging part was twisting the bracket which came with the antenna to meet the existing bolt hole.

Reception is excellent.

Stupid question but. what year are the parts for the celica/s2000.

I'm looking to do this as the genuine toy part for my camry is $250 to replace.
I would like to see a picture of this installed. I have seen side shots of it installed but not back to front. why i'm asking is because i want to know if the antenna leans towards the outside of the car/inside or straight up.

93 Camry V6 LE.
Thanks.
