Well, ive tried 3 diff engine degreaser's on my gen2...Auto Zone brand by far worked the best but there is still ALOT of crap and dirt on it. Anyone know how i can get my bay looking squeaky clean? also i have some rust spots here and there on my quarter panel's. would it be cheaper or better to just replace them or take it to a shop and have them repair rust damage? btw how much would a shop charge? thanks for all the help. peace...

hmmmm

lots of rags
toothbrush
arsenal of cleaning products (simple green, pine sol, ajax, citrus....)
lots of elbow grease
lots of great tunes!!
a whole lot of time to waste, it takes forever, took me over 20 hours to get the inside of my hood squeaky clean.... gotta work on the rest

no real trick to it, once its real clean then you can spray it with engine wash every so often to get the thin stuff off

then for the rust, sand it all off, then prime and paint with some tremclad or something, then clearcoat if you want

When I cleaned my engine bay, I used Goo Gone. I just let the stuff sit for five minutes and the dirt and grime wiped off like butter on a hot knife.
