Help with transmission problem...please?

Heres the story...

I had doen an engine and transmission swap and everything works great, at least for 2 days. I went to get a cup of coffee on my way to class and as i went to back up out of the parking space, the car would not reverse. So after pushing the car out in the cold, i went to class then went home. I checked to see if i had reverse and still didnt. So I checked the fluid level at home and found it to be in between the hot and cold. So to rule out the fluid, i went ahead and changed it as well as the trans filter. Upon completion of this, i still did not have reverse and I managed to lose my O/D or 4th gear i think. So after spending a couple hours a cursing i decided to just not go to places, at least until i had the time to take the trans back out and swap it at the junkyard, that requiered reverse and O/D. So a couple days pass and miracuosly it all resovles itself. Now the question is, what should i do, I only have 2 wks left of my warenty with the junkyard. Any suggestions would be great!!!

the car is a 93 camry with a 93 transmission and a 4 cyl 94 engine.

I'm jealous! All of my problems would be solved if I could replace my own transmission like that. Is it hard? I can spend one single day on it, no more. I do almost everything myself but never a FWD transmission. I have a 1993 V6 Camry.

i would take it to the place and have them document what happened. make sure you get it and writing then hold on to it in case something happens. it may be pretty hard to actually get them to do anything about it but you could try.

something you may also want to check is to see if your o/d light has ever flashed or done anything else funny. if so then the computer is recognizing a problem that a shop could diagnose.

good luck... automatic transmissions are EVIL

There's a reason why I also hate automatics..

Is there an OD button on camry's?? could be the button is busted.. that used to happen with my dad's 84 LE van, the OD button was busted inside so once a while it would disengage and re-engage until it finally just gave way and we lost OD.

As for the whole reverse thing, could be that they didn't place the linkages properly or maybe they're too lose so the shifter might not engage the gear properly until the linkage goes back to place.

well after the transmission fixed itself i have yet to have any problem with it. i did check the O/D nutton and its wasnt that

I had called some transmission shops and taken it to a few and the overall statement from them is they have never heard of a reverse going out and ever coming back. So my conclusion is I dont have one!!!

Cool

I would think a poor electrical connection seeing as the problem fixed itself. Maybe a bump shoock some connections back into contact.
