Talking another Camry owner...

I just got a 1995 camry from my aunt for a grand tonight. The car has just over 108k miles and she could have easily sold it for 3 or 4. Its a 4cyl, 4dr auto, yes i would want a v6 2dr manual but life is full of compromises. I am new as a member but have been watching the forums for a few months now and I think toyota nation is great. The car is really in beautiful condition because she drove it like an old lady even though she not even 40. The only thing is there isnt that much torque. Test driving it I stepped on it and it felt alot better than my moms 00 civic dx but still not fast. I really want the ripp mods sc but i cant budget that dough til like august(teenage driving insurance and urban ny gas prices )
so what should I do in the meantime looks/system or suspension or brakes. I'm sorry this sounds like newbie shit but i havent driven the car much and was wonderin what you longtime Camry owners think. Thanks

Welcome to TN. The guys here are very knowledgeable. That car will probably last you 250K miles, it's a Toyota!

2 door v6 manual camry's were never made... ( i think )
there are camry's with the 3vz 4 door manual, or the 1mz auto 2 door
believe it or not, my cousin has a 96 4-cyl 5-speed camry, very rare also...

It all depends on what you really want man. If your into your music and how it sounds like me....go for a system first. I just completed my sound system for the time being. I got Memphis Audio components up from with some Infinity 5x7's in the rear complimented by 2 12 inch AudioBahn Aluminum subs with a temporary 500 watt Jensen. I have yet to install the subs and amp because my Camry is down for the moment. What I do with my Camry is work on the cheap mods inbetween bigger things. Like Grill, projectors, led tails, relocating turn signals. Just stupid stuff to keep me busy and keep me moving fwd on the car. Im kind of glad im broke and it takes me a long time to do major things because I've had the time to research and look at every possible option. I really don't think brakes are going to do anything for you this early with the car. My stocks slow me down just fine right now, as for suspension...it could use some work.
So my vote is 1. System 2.Suspension *rims and tires*3. Power mods 4. Brakes 5. Areo 6. Interior. Then inbetween the major mods, do the little things. PM me for some ideas on the little stuff.

Suspension first. It makes your car funner to drive and it'll look everything in the future look better.

I don't know what you pay in nyc for gas, but I paid $2/gal today for midgrade - and that's actually really good for here.

I don't think that it will be very economical as far as dollars per horsepower to make the car hot. But at least it's a car. First: decent radio, system, stereo (yours came with what kind of radio? cd, tape, or both). (does anyone know how to install a system where you don't have to lower the pass through doors to hear it?) I don't know about second.... I'm still on first.

things NOT to do:

vtec sticker, it ain't even a honda

pro-long, slick 50, fake intercooler, or any intercooler for that matter. stupid tornado in the intake thing, overfilling the engine, tranny with oil.

fuel injector cleaner that you put in the gas,

armour all on the tires, shifter, or steering wheel.

if anything goes wrong with the car, procure youself some gloves before you start loosening bolts and stuff, and make sure you don't burn yourself. read up and stay away from people with a cavalier or lacksidasical approach to safety - you don't wanna have to walk into an ER fuming smoke, or have the quadruple threat: 1. cops, 2. firefighters, 3. ambulance, 4. tow truck coming to your house to rescue you.

Cool

Stopping shouldn't be a problem. You don't even need bigger brakes to stop, just better pads and a higher quality fluid that won't boil when you go to a track.
