I believe they are only covered under 12k miles. You probably got them heated up too much and they glazed the rotors. You might also want ot have the shims relubed.
I went in with a steering wheel problem, it was making weird noises during wide turns, so they did something about it and then I read that they said the brakes squeeked, I never heard it once, maybe it had something to do with the steering wheel. So they replaced the front brakepads, turned around the rotors(what was facing in is now facing out), they said they were warped or something like that. I have 22,000 miles.
You might be covered.
I don't think anybody covers brakes for very long. Unless there is an actual mechanical problem, you're just hard on your brakes

I believe that brakes are covered as part of the standard 36k miles warranty. I have two 2002 Camrys, 4cyl LE and 6 cyl SE. Rotors on both had to be turned at around 10k due to the 'pulsating' syndrome. The dealer then replaced one of the fron rotors on my SE at 35k and turned the other, for the same reason, and all for free.
BTW - I just had the brakes checked on my LE at 65k miles (mostly highway driving), and to my surprise I was told that they were still fine, pads and all. Isn't this unusual?
This could be covered under warranty or it might not. It depends on the cause of the squeaking. If there is a mechanical problem causing the brakes to squeak, such as a sticking slide pin or a stuck caliper piston, or simply the composition of the pad material, then it should be covered. The dealer might even have a Technical Service Bulletin about your problem. If they are simply worn down to the pad wear indicators and are worn evenly due to your driving habits, it could be your responsibility. Your best bet is to take the car to your dealer and complain about the noise. Indicate that you have never had any brake problems with any of your other cars at anywhere near this mileage and hope they are honest. Good luck.
weran43,
65000 miles on the brakes of a car driven mostly on the highway is not unusual. Think about it, you use your brakes seldom per the miles driven during highway driving. If you did mostly city driving with a lot of stop-n-go, it would not be unusual to have to replace brakes at 30,000 miles.
just went to the dealership today for my routine oil change and i asked them to check my brakes. The service advisor said it would cost $40 just to inspect. I asked what if it is covered under warranty he stated that no brake issues are covered. Is this guy full of shit?!?

dude.... its the dealer! they charge to inspect on a car u bought from them that isn't that difficult since they ONLY do a visual inspection, they won't take pads off and look at them only what they can see when your wheels are off.
if u do have to replace rotors or pads and don't want to go to dealer...dont go to midas, etc. and find a mom&pop type shop, it'll cost more (maybe as much as dealer, but prolly little less) but it will pay for itself in the end.
i have a 94 so i have no warranty

how would a mom and pop shop pay off in the end if it costs more??!

because i went to Midas and spent 500 on 4 new rotors, pads, and labor and they're fucked up and are assholes and won't fix 'em. they also let one of my calipers hang and it ended up breakin my front ps brakeline and leaked like 80% of the brake fluid...they said "There no proof that we did it" even thou it broke the next day after they worked on it?!?!
i'm going to end up getting brembo oem rotors and prolly hp plus pads...and have the shop (mom&pop type) put them on.
if i would've gone to that shop in the first place it would have saved me time, money, stress, and my life wouldn't have been put at risk.
maybe i just happen to get unlucky but if their (lack of) level of customer service is any representation on their business (which is usually the case) then i would have rather gone to the dealer....
sorry to have temporarily hijack the thread...if anyone wants to comment on my opinion, just PM me...

Call Toyota corporate in California at 800-331-4331 and follow the prompts to reach customer service. You usually only have to wait a few minutes on hold.
Ask them if the brake noise is covered under the 3/36 warranty. Explain to them that your dealer wants $40 just to check out what the noise is. They may even contact the dealer on your behalf if they feel it should be covered.
