when does the car "break in"?

my new camry just hit 2000 miles and the car feels a lil more smoother now. mileage went up from 20 to around 22. when i pressed the gas today rpm went past 5. it havent gone over 4 since i bought it. 225 horses felt really good. haha nothing beats to look in the mirror and find everyone is a mile behind.

ya it is kinda low. in houston ur bound to drive mostly in the city. stop signs here stop signs there. i try not to ge tthe rmp over 3. but sometimes i cant stay away from the temptation. also i drive kinda fast when i am on the highway. 80 is pretty much my highway speed. yest i hit 100 for like 10 miles before i had to exit. . 55 is economical but i drive that on the streets.

my 00 camry i4 used to get close to 30 miles but now its around 26 with 70,000.

Wow 22. My mom's infiniti FX35 has that mileage. Anyways, that is pretty low for your V6. My LE is around 32/36 miles City/Hwy.

Dude i'm in houston too, on my 5sfe, last week i drove 500 miles on one fill up, and there was gas still in and no lights on! (i was suprised, as by this time the low gas light ususally comes).

Cool

If the dealer hasn't driven it around alot, it was 35% broken in at the engine plant, 50% broken in at the car assembly plant.

You (and the dealer if they hogged it) only get the last 15% of the break-in process.

It lasts less than an hour of running time for the first owner. Run the piss out of it to seat the rings, go for an oil change within the first 100 miles, then treat it like normal.

*edit*

And the first person (including administrative staff) that complain to me about "bad advice" without having any sorty of arguement against what I say is a newb.
