I have a 1993 V6 XLE, lately I have noticed that my transmission is doing weird things. When the engine is cold, I will accelerate at about 1/2-3/4 throttle, the transmission will be in 1st gear, then it feels like it shifts to 3rd (or maybe out of gear). The pedal will be down but the car doesn't go anywhere. The engine doesn't rev, it will just not move then the transmission downshifts and it is ok. the closest thing that I can relate this to is when you drive a manual and shift it from 1st to 3rd gear, the engine bogs down and the car doesn't move. I have checked the fluid level and it is full, it doesn't smell/look burnt..

Can anyone help me with this, is my tranny shot?? The car has 116K miles on it, and if it is a transmission, i am going to sell it and buy a 90-93 Celica all-trac!!

I don't really have an answere to your dilema. I'd suggest you have a cpl of tranny shops take a quick spin in the car and see what their opinion is.

Thanks guys, as of now it is a intermittant problem. It has only happened 4-5 times in the past month..
I was going to try and change the fluid and see if it gets better.
