You should sand the dash first, with 400 grit sand paper. I'm trying to use dupli-color spray paint to match the exterior of my car. The color came out pretty good, but the clear-coat didn't really take. The can says don't spray at an angle, but I did, and I think that's why it didn't stick. Follow the directions on what ever brand of paint you get, and you should be fine. I know that both Duplicolor and Plasticoat make paints that "match" the exterior paint of cars. Try Walmart or a auto-parts store for them.
