i kno i may be a lil off topic but i have a big choice to make within the next couple months....my father has a paid off 99 camry and hes gettin a new car and will give me the camry ....probelm is its only a 4 banger ...the car only has 68 thousand miles on it.....heres my question....i want a 2000 or a 2001 maxima.....problem with them is the money they cost bein tho im only 19...i cant afford one but im super anxious to get in the import tuning scene...maximas are way stronger even if u supercharge the camry...so should i just save my pennies and trade for the maxima or start on tryna make a mircale out of the camry.....serious responses plz....this is a serious decision....thanks
most people mod the family car they have now because they have no other choice
Exactly
I'd take the Maxima if it came with good amenities.
It's not that anyones engines are any stronger than Toyota's, or the cars are any faster... it's just too easy to do things without spending your own time, or money on custom work.
The value of a Camry holds better than any of the Nissan line... Hold the Camry for another 9-12mo then buy an '02 M/T. They're a lot nicer car than the previous ones. Might as well start with the big 3.5L anyways.

for anything, anytime; including camry turbos Now with Turbo!
Not saying that the camry is a bad car, its a wonderful car (as many here would agree including myself) and youll have fun with it, but why have gold when you can have platinum?
You'll thank yourself 5 years from now. (if you happen to get the maxima that is)
Regardless, you will enjoy the experience of learning about and working on cars no matter what it is.
understand that your young and ur parents just handed down a camry to you, just be grateful for that.... dont be in a rush to get a new car right away...the camry is a reliability car....
aaaahhh!!! you know I have S-T-U-F-F on it... but its pretty much stock...
i'll take my camry any day too, im keepin this thing FOREVER.....im serious guys, i love my cam. even tho it may not be all that powerful (at the moment atleast) or all that great looking (again, atleast not at the moment) but im keeping this thing....

i really thank u guys for the feed back...but i gotta agree with the majority of you guys and say the max would be a better chance....not that im knocking the camry....cuz i drive it all the time and i actually took it up to 110mph at 3 in the mornin with overdrive off but dats another story lol!!!!!....which i will neva do again....a 99 4 banger is not meant for dat kinda speed.....but my last question is with enough mods on a 99 4 banger to get it up to 200hp and a 02 maxima up to bout 300hp....which would be cheaper....
A lot of the expense of moding a car is in labor. If you put in the wrench time yourself, you will save a load of cash, but you have to have to proper tools and knowhow. You'll pay out the @$$ to have someone install proformance upgrades. i would take the cam just cause no one would see it comin' especially if you dont do much to the exterior.
Just my take.

yea if i somehow keep the camry....i would keep it a sleeper....not a huge bulky body kit...to me it looks tacky.....but i wold do the same with the maxima....i would get the stillen kit and keep it low profile...but roll up on these ricer ***s round here and eat them alive....but with a stillen SC....isnt matainence on them things a bitch???....i wanna be able to drive it daily and not have to work on it every ten minutes
