Angry Problems w/ rear disks wearing uneven, squeaking bad

I was wondering if any other Gen3 ppl had problems with their rear disk brakes wearing down unevenly and/or squeaking really bad. I replaced my rotors and pads a few months ago and when i took the old ones off they had been worn down unevenly and one was worn at a diagonal. My rears squeak all the time now almost and its real f..ing annoying. Could there be something wrong with my lines or calipers to cause them to wear unevenly and squeak all the time???

Thanks

Check the calipers to see if their sticking. It should move smoothly along the guide bolts. If not you can try removing the guide bolts and greasing them up.

Are you using shims on the brake pads along with anti squeal compound (disc brake goop)?

if shims are the little sticky-pad-things you put between the pads and the caliper pistons, then yes
but i dont use any anti-squeal stuff

Do what 88LE said. Check to see if the slider pins are moving freely. If they are not, remove them, sand them lightly if there is any rust on them, and then grease them with either high temperature silicone brake grease or antiseize compound and then reinstall them. This is the most likely problem if one of the pads is warn diagonally; one of the two slide pins is probably stuck causing the pad to **** when the caliper tries to push it against the rotor.

The piston may also be sticking in the caliper bore. If this is the case, you will have to rebuild that particular caliper or purchase a rebuilt one. This involves removing the caliper from the car and reinstalling and bleeding the new or rebuilt one. Make sure this is something you feel comfortable doing. If not, get someone to help you who is more experienced, or get a manual to help you or take the car in to a professional.

Good luck with the problem.

Mike

I just had this happen and put on my new rotors and brake pads about a 5 days ago. The weird thing... the front pads still had a good ammount of pad BUT the front right was also making noise, the rear GONE completely and was much louder than the front. I'm very positive it is your brakes. Use the haynes or chilton and it will be simple. Good luck!
