Smile LED Scanners, noob needs help!!!

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum so bare with me! I've tried to search for instructions to install a Varad-like LED gothic style scanner and I couldn't get much info.

I got a Camry 98 and this what I know about the install:

3 wires:

red: to constant 12V

black: to ground

yellow: to the goes to ground, when alarm is activated

I purchased a gothic style euroeffects LED scanner from ebay and I recieved the scanner with not mounting hardware (except screws). The 3 wires coming out of the scanner is really short (1 inch in length) so I think I need to get something else to extend it as I plan to mount it onto the rear view for that night rider effect (some might say). I had thought that I could look at the already installed LED alarm light that's on my car and follow that and it go even more confusing as it is a 2 wire configuration that comes together in that white plug and plugs into the side.

I'm new to this, so please help me and guide me to what I need to purchase. I might have to get someone outside to install this... hope not

Thanks in advance!

The yellow wire acts as a trigger. In other words it functions like a on/off switch.

Hookup the yellow wire to the armed responce output wire of the alarm. Or to the negative wire going to the existing led (this might or might not work).

ok, well the LED is connected to the brain of the alarm system, in one of the ports on the side. There seems to be an extra port that is not used (beside the, connected LED), that has 3 prongs sticking out, seemingly for 3 wires. Does anyone know if I go out and get the plug connector and connect my Scanner, will this work?

Depends what that plug is for.

Somewhere on the brain it should say what that plug is for.
