ok heres the situation, i have a 92 LE with the 5S-FE about 120k miles. My boss is giving me a 91 with the v6 for free. Now ive done engine swaps before but not different motors. Besides the ECU, mounts and wiring harness and of course time... what else would i need from the uh "donor" car? and tips or suggestions before i have a go at this?
You're swapping a 120hp 2.0L 4c from a gen3, for a 156hp 2.5L v6, from a gen 2.
All electronics & sensors, A540-E transmission & shifting logic, fabbing custom mounts for the engine & finding a540 mouns to replace what you have...
Do yourself a favor and stick to swaps from the same chassie generation.
3vz-fe.

ok lets get some facts straight. from where i stand the 3vz-fe is a 3.0 liter, with either dual cam or quad cam depending on model and year, engine and was used from 87-95 in the camry, camry wagon and some lexus'. the 3vzfe is the optional factory engine for the 92 anyway.

I think you need to do more research mate.

If it was a Camry V6 and manufactured for US market;
Gen2 - 2vz-fe - 1987 (88) to 1991 (Approx 155 Hp) some places list as available in 87, some 88 onwards only.
Gen3 - 3vz-fe - 1992 to 1993 (Approx 185 Hp)
Gen3.5 - 1mz-fe - 1994 to 1996 (Approx 188 Hp)
Gen 4 - 1mz-fe - 1997 to 2001 (approx 195 HP)
Now it could be that somehow your boss could have bought a Camry early and got a 1992 in 1991. Anyways, they both had two banks of cylinders with double overhead cams, making it 4 cam.
You have to understand that a lot of the people here eat, sleep Camrys.

No the 3vz-fe is a 3.0L/2995cc with DOHC
The 3vz-e was the longitudinal mount 3.0L/2995cc in use from 1988-1995. It is SOHC.
If you want years everyone else has posted them multiple times.
If you want a Toyota engine, replace it with another 5s block engine, or drop a 92-93 3vz-fe into it.
The general point is don't go doing custom fabrication to swap a 2vz-fe in for your 5s-fe... The 5s-fe doesn't have the same torque, but has nearly the same hp, while getting a hell of a lot better gas mileage, and requiring 0 custom work.
