Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV), it routes fumes in the crankcase (not talking about combustion chamber) back through the intake to be combusted. It is an emissions device, you really could remove it all together or unhook it off of the intake tube and use a PCV filter on the end of the disconnected hose. Then plug up the hole in the intake. like this:

Or leave everything hooked up and just use an inline filter like this except get a clear one. Cut the PCV hose and use hose clamps to attach one of these.
Downloadable PDF--Except the one that is a sticky on this board (for the 1mz-fe), I do not know of one. I got that exploded view from the Haynes. Best to try and get a Camry Service Manual from Toyota, it is far more detailed.
Do not worry about replacing the gasket, unless it is destroyed, but i think it has metal in it. Mine was fine, I just reused it. BTW the gasket is between the intake and this IAC valve.
For clarification: To remove the IAC, you will have to remove some bolts I think three. Once you get it off of the car then disassemble the IAC unit (three screws), and begin cleaning.
I would suggest brake fluid cleaner, found at local autoparts store...But I guess WD40 will do, it does have some degreasing, degunking properties.
thanks
