I have a question for anyone that has the Rod Millen front clip. How much modification does it take to actually get one of those to fit? I'm planning on buying one, but not sure how much it'd run to get a bodyshop to do it. Any feedback will be great. Thanx.
if you know how to do it, then I suppose that it wouldn't be too hard really.....all you ahve to do is cut off the bottom half of the stock bumper, then use epoxy to stick the lip to the bumper, and add some screws......
but then again, I got mine installed by a shop....
$200cnd for installation and paint
the only advice that I can give is that if you live somewhere with snow and you want to do what I did and buy an extra bumper to put the lip on so you can switch to your stock bumper in the the winter, don't get an aftermarket bumper....the fitting's not the best in the world then....

with stock suspension, what's the distance from the bottom of the lip to the ground?
if don't know, what's the distant after lowering and how low did you drop it?
plus the shitty dealership paint job is chipping, flaking, etc. so i'll probably get the lip and have both bumper and lip painted and the same time. prolly a better idea?

^^^^ i really dont think it is the dealership paint....
i was going to start a thread about this but it might as well be included in this thread... My lip has been painted twice and the paint does have problems sticking to the material. My car is only lowered about an inch in the front (from cut springs) and the roads around here are reall shitty. But anyway the painted lip can take some hits/road scrapes/drags and still hold the paint on but since the lip is so flexible if it bends in a certain way the paint WILL start popping off, and it doesnt take much of a scrape/bend to start the cracking of the paint.
The second time my dad painted it we primered the bumper and added a flex agent hopefully to help this situation but the paint still doesnt like to stick if it is bent even slightly. My dad, who used to own his own business doing fiberglas work on and painting Corvettes, said he assumes its the material cause hes never seen paint chip and flake like this.
I wish the lip was fiberglas or something less flexible, still a great looking lip but you have to be careful Especially if your car is lowered not to hit driveways, etc.

well, actually it is. about 1 yr ago got in an accident and had to have bumper replaced and the dealer's bodyshop did all the work and paint and about 3 mos. ago my mom backed into my front at LITERALLY max of 2-3mph and the paint just kind of flaked, chipped off and some other spots unrelated to that area have started chipping, etc. so i don't think they put any flex additive in it but when & if i do get the lip i'll go to a specialty shop.

Sounds like a shit job by the dealership..... Go with an outside shop...hell my Toyota dealer sends it's repairs out to other shops for that reason.

ok did you read my post, i said we used flex in the paint job both time and both times we still have had problems with flaking and chipping, the reason that the paint is chipping in unrelated areas is probably because of the stress throughout on the bumper when it has hit something.
I've had mine fixed twice already too. It get kind of tiring, but I love the lip so much that I'm willing to get it fixed as many times as possible to keep it

yes, i read it, except you are talking about your lip, i'm talking about my oem front bumper, and u even said that ur dad thought it was the material BUT i don't want this to escalte b/c we're not 5yrs old (i assume)...soooo...i would assume that flex paint was not added...
ok, so you experienced a paint flaking off an excellent aero part even with flex and i experienced shitty service at a bodyshop, did i get this right, awesome
