Angry 3rd Gen - Windows Don't Work, Neither Does Speedo / Heater / A-C . . .

Just Finished Switching Out My Trunk Lid On My 3rd Gen Camry . . .
Severed The Cable Which You Have To Pull For Trunk Release . . .
(Knew That Was Going To Happen)
Severed ALL Of The Braided-Up Cables That Are Also In The Left Hinge . . .
NOW SPEEDO / BLOWERS / AND POWER WINDOWS Aren't Working . . .

Do I Just Need To Splice The Wires From The New Trunk Lid With The Original Wires From My Car ?

Thanks

Cool

Let us see what the new trunk lid looks like LoL!

All I can tell you is that they're color coded... Pull the wires out of the old trunk and try and re-use them. You may to splice new pieces in if you can't pull enough length for them to work.

You definitely want to solder them, and use heat shrink to seal the wires.... Otherwise you may slam the lid, or hit a bump and have everything go out, or even worse, something un-important short something that is important!

Cool

BTW if the new lid came with wiring, you're still best served to tear it out and replace it with the old wiring.

Depending on the day your car came off the factory, the wiring colors have a tendancy to change from time to time. hahahahaha Makes it a real bitch.

OK WoW! You cut a LOT of shit up!!!

I'll write down what I remember from AIM.

Since you don't have a key any longer to open the trunk, and the mechanical cable is cut, fold the back seat down and lock onto the lid cable with a pair of vice grips. (If it's impossible to get to, take the rear seats out, it's not too difficult) Use that to open/close the trunk until you can get to a mechanic, or you get a weekend off to try it yourself.

You *definitely* want to buy a new trunk cable at a Toyota dealer. Might be expensive, but you said it yourself. You don't have the time to go playing around junkyards.

The wiring... Eventually one way or another, you're going to have to solder the old->new wires together (use heat shrink to seal and protect the joint, not duct tape, or electrical tape) For now, since you're short on time, go a head and try to splice them together with nuts. Just don't over tighten, or damage the wiring because you're going to be close on the length of the wires.

You don't want to have to re splice them later on only to find out that they're an inch short, and you can't make it up!!!
