I want to replace the present mirror with an auto dimming mirror. I see there are several listed on ebay. How is the mirror removed on a '98? I'm going to look for the basic unit...no lights, compass or themometer. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The mirror is currently attached to roof area ( ?? ) There is an interior color cover that will pop off and reveal removal screws.

Yeah just pop off the cover and you should see some screws behind it. Just take those out and that's it.

Do I need a special mounting bracket or will the mirror go right on the factory mount? Thanks guys.

Better check complete for fit, Could be a universal "on the glass" mount, I would not want it on the glass.

If you have a 98 camry, you just need a small flat blade screwdriver to remove the mirror. There is a little tab inside the bracket that you have to push with the screwdriver, and then it will slide off. Just make sure you are gentle.

I installed one on my 98, and I assume you have the same mirror connection.

Seems gentex is the primary manufacturer of this mirror. Sevral different models available. www.gentex.com
