Angry Steering Vibration @ 130 km/hr

I have camry 2001 with 215/50 R17" rim. Couple of weeks ago I rotated my tires (rear to front in the same side). After rotation, when I drive over 130 km/hr, I feel slight vibration at my steering wheel.I went to the store (Wheel Direct, Toronto) to balance my front tire. they said that my front tires are balanced and i need Hub Rings to reduce the vibration. They installed the hubrings on 4 wheels but I still have the same problem at 130+ km/hr.

Do you think I need 4 wheel balance from the Toyota Dealer ? My idea is may be dealers do better balancing than the after market Rim stores.

Before the tire rotation, I had no vibration even at speed of 160 km/hr. Now the vibration starts at 130 km/hr.

Should I check my tire pressure? How much PSi I should have for teh performance tire (215/50 R17")? 40 psi??????

for balancing it would depend more upon the tech doing the actuall work, not the place where it gets gone, cause all they do it mount the wheel on the machine, then put the weight where the comp tells it to.

and if they added hub rings but that had no effect, then the hub rings could be the wrong size, therefore having little to no effect on your problem

or you could just not drive over 130

techs may need to balance both the outside and inside rim of wheel to get a better balance. I had the same problem at 90mph and above, but balancing inner and outer side of wheel cured it. of course I went to someone I knew personally and he made sure things were kosher.

your real problem seems to be that you have aftermarket rims, which, on a toyota, won't be hub centric, because toyota has comparitively tiny hubs on it's cars. and aftermarket rims are made to fit lots of types of cars. try getting some toyota rims you like better. (less choices, better fit, no vibration)

I did not have the vibration with the same wheel before tire rotation. Why would the vibration appear after the tire rotation.Don't you think the current front tires(which are form the rear sides) are little bit off balance?

What Tire pressure should I use?

check each of your rims carefully....it could be a cracked rim..

I used to get vibrations at 140, and when I got my winter's switched onto my 17s, they found out that one of my front wheels were cracked....

I'm not positive about your tire pressure but it would be between 32 and 35psi. the tires they moved to the front could still be off balance.you might want to do as Eye8Pussies suggested and check the rims for cracks and warp. but I bet they just need to be fine tuned balanced. especially aftermarket rims
