Servicing my Valve Covers and Intake..No 56K

In the process of replacing valve cover gaskets, cam seals, sparkplug tube seals and intake plenum gasket. Going to paint my valve covers and intake plenum aluminium color.

Tonight I just took off the valve covers after taking off the plenum.

Here are some pics:

Just a few questions.

Firstly..do the cams and valve area look to be in ok condition?

Secondly..why did my sparkplug tube seals start to leak after they had been replaced? Incorrect fitment?

Thirdly..Is there an easy way to remove the blue 'gasket maker' or wateva its called? There is some on the intake plenum and around the valve gasket seating area and I what to clean it all properly. Ive try a scraper but is there a better way?

Also, can someone refer me a previous thread on how to port the intake plenum and mods that can be done to it..might aswell while its off.

Thanks everyone!
